Some guys out there may consider using PEDs to help them shed fat, but this could cause a few issues.
First of all, anabolic PEDs such as SARMs and steroids are meant for gaining muscle.
And while gaining more muscle may help you lose weight, there are some side effects which could be exacerbated by lifters who hold excess bodyfat.
Of course, there are exceptions to the rule, and if you decide to take an unnatural route, you should be getting bloodwork done to make sure no major health complications arise throughout your cycle.
Bigger, bulkier athletes with higher bodyfat percentages such as elite powerlifters and strongmen know the risk they run by taking on various cycles — and often have a team of medical professionals to supervise their health.
We generally advise most casual lifters to remain natural throughout their life, but if you are wanting to take your training to the next level, we have a checklist you should follow before even considering to take the plunge, so to speak.

Here’s Why You Shouldn’t Take PEDs if You Carry Excess Bodyfat

And by excess bodyfat, to err on the side of caution, we advise getting down to at least 15% bodyfat.
Some PEDs can raise your blood pressure, liver enzymes, and skew lipid profiles.
If you carry excess bodyfat, all three of these points can be further stressed.
Leaner individuals tend to have lower blood pressure, a lower risk of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, and healthier lipid profiles.
The addition of excess bodyfat into the equation can increase your risk of suffering from medical problems relating to your cycle.
We have an article on side effect protocols you can take on cycle.
Furthermore, since excess fat is highly estrogenic and lowers testosterone levels, recovering from a cycle that suppresses your natural testosterone levels can be harder for guys with higher bodyfat percentages.
And to reiterate: Steroids and SARMs are there to help you GAIN MUSCLE.
Additionally, you may lose muscle you gain on cycle while cutting to lose fat, rendering your cycle practically obsolete and wasting your money in the process.
You should seek to lose fat first before hopping on cycle. And no, this doesn’t mean taking other PEDs such as ephedrine, clen, or DNP to get there.
You should be able to get down to around 15% bodyfat relatively pain-free with patience and clever dieting.
